Veronica de Mannor
Veronica de Mannor is a Finnish artist who has worked her whole life in different artistic fields. De Mannor started out originally in the performance arts and being a compatitive dancer. She kept writing, drawing and painting on the side, but finally fully dived into visual arts after her CPTSD diagnosis left her unable to work. She started painting originally as a way to cope and release trauma, but has since grown and keeps growing as an artist, finding new ways to elevate her craft. De Mannor still admits that her work will always be very personal; even if the subjects have become more philosophical and universal.
Her body of work is often described as both dark and beautiful, contrasting topics, colors and themes finding a way to exist in harmony. Her materials and techniques also reflect a need to create without restrictions and thriving in contrasts, using sometimes even quite suprising materials. De Mannor states that this started when she was first starting out, having little to no resources forced her to get creative with materials; she recalls sometimes even using nail polish to paint. Mixed mediums remain her favored technique to this day; usually using acrylics, pencils and spray paint. In her photographic work Veronica likes to use herself as the subject, having some experience in modeling and finding herself loving to be in front of the camera, while also coming up with the concept for each image. Her husband Mr de Mannor works behind the camera bringing the vision to life.
De Mannor herself has described her work as pondering visual poetry littered with symbolism, yet she is not shying away from occasionally making a very direct statement either. As a self-thought artist de Mannor enjoys the idea of being a bit of a rebel, saying she finds it fitting that she is a bit of an underdog in the art world aswell. In the future De Mannor is focused on her ultimate dream: one day to work full time with her husband on their artistic devours. De Mannor has a clear vision for her future work, she specifically wants to broaden her artistry further with combining writing, fashion, sound and performance. De Mannor is an artist and a humanitarian first, but still very much a performer aswell.
